People often want to travel and enjoy vacation in a place where they can relax and find solitude. But, what keeps them from travelling is usually their finances.
Below are some practical ways on how you can travel cheaply without putting holes in your pocket!
Tour packages - Avail tour packages ahead of time. At least up to a month before your planned trip. They make travel life easy and convenient. Hotels give huge discounts to tour operators and charge a huge premium to visitors who book directly.
Another important thing to note is that booking online gives you even bigger discounts. My hubby and I checked into 3 hotels for about 50% of the actual price because we booked via Agoda.com. Here's what was very interesting, we were in one hotel in Kualar Lumpur for about 10 days. When we decided to extend our stay by 5 days at the front desk, they called out the REGULAR PRICE! Since we knew the trick, I simply pulled out my iPad and got 50% discount right under their noses.
Agoda, TripAdvisor and Airbnb are excellent sites to book hotels and flights. Remember to be careful when selecting a travel site other than these commonly known ones. Check out the reviews and make sure they are legitimate and credible before pulling out the plastic!
Promo tickets - Book tickets that are on promo. Budget airlines offer excellent flight discounts. When you buy promo tickets for your travel, you’ve already lessen the overhead of your travel expenses.
Others don't want to use budget airlines because they think its mediocre. But for me, I don't really care. Even if they fly on first class tickets, we all arrive at the same destination. Hahahaha!
Use public transport - A lot of travellers refuse to take public transport when traveling because of fear. You are missing out! Using MRTs/LRTs, budget cabs or buses can help you save a lot of money.
I often use public transports when I'm at my tour destination because it allows me to visit many places at a very minimal cost. Just a tip, ask the locals first for the minimum fare rates before riding. Public transport drivers increase their rates whenever they sense that you are a foreigner.
Book Budget hotels - Budget hotels may not be as nice and classy as the five star hotels. But hey! I’ve stayed on budget hotels specially when I’m on transient. A lot of them are decent and sometimes offer free breakfast. Who can say no for that?
Travel light - Do not bring lots of suitcases when travelling, specially when you are just going out for days. (WOMEN) We always have this problem of overpacking unnecessary stuff. Chose your wardrobe wisely. Remember, hotels offer laundry and gives you complimentary toiletries. Travelling light allows you to travel swiftly.
