Cagayan de Oro is my humble hometown where I grew up. This place is widely known as CDO. The city of golden friendship. People who are born in CDO are called Cagaya-anons or Kagayanons. We are well known because of our famous expression "Tsada" which means (nice).
To those Cagayanons who are abroad like me, I know you can relate to this article. And to those who stay in Cagayan de Oro, this article is an eye opener to let you know that you are blessed with some things which I don't have. Kindly read on and find out why...

NUMBER SIX - FOOD
I miss the food in CDO. You know the typical Filipino food like 'sinugba' (brie fish, adobo, soy sauce with vinegar, bear brand and stuffs). That I am craving right now. I also miss eating lots of fruits. Specially durian which is one of my favourites. Looking forward to feast when I get back!

NUMBER FIVE - PEOPLE
There are some common traits that Kagayanon people possess. We are friendly and hospitable. We laugh despite our problems, and can even put a smile on our faces even if we are in the midst of a major calamity (like Sendong).
Also, Cagayanons love to chat even with strangers. That's why when you go to the malls or stores, tindera's (sales agent) will pro-actively show you around and take time to chat with you. Other people specially foreigners sometimes find it rude and rub us off and think that we are just being nosy, but really, it's just our culture. For us, talking to a jeepney driver, taxi driver, tinderos' and security guards is just a normal thing. It's actually fun! That's why we have night cafe. I'll blog about that one very soon (look out for it).

NUMBER FOUR - CHURCH
I miss the warmth of our church family where you hang out together, sing together and study the word of God. Nothing can make people genuinely happy except when they get together with the family of God. Thanks to the SPUC Garden Seventh Day Adventist Church for making your church our second home in our sojourn.

NUMBER THREE - FRIENDS
My hubby and I are blessed with good friends. Those who will be there for you in good times and bad times. Our friendship gets better and stronger as the years gone by. Our road is sometimes bumpy. But rest assured that when we get together, we always have a blast!

NUMBER TWO - CHRISTMAS
Cagayanons who stay abroad like me often say, the best way to spend christmas is at home (Cagayan de Oro). You know why? Because for us, the happiest season is christmas! It's the time when you look forward to receiving gifts. Hahahaha! No Kidding!
The month of December makes me miss the noise of the firecrackers and fireworks cracking all over the place, the grandiose lights graciously decorated all over the streets in the city, and the smell of good food (like cakes, spaghetti, fruit salad, chicken adobo, and many more). These things makes me miss home more than ever. The warmth of the season can really be felt when you are in Cagayan de Oro.

NUMBER ONE -FAMILY
I think above everything, but what I miss the most is my family. You can talk to them all night and won't get tired. You can goof with them non-stop. God is so good for giving me the best family anyone can only wish they have.

Christmas is the best season for me, specially when I get to spend it with my family.
I am not able to spend christmas with my family this year, but hubby and I are hoping that Godwilling, we will spend the next years' holiday season in Cagayan de Oro. As they always say, there's no place like home. Specially during the holiday season. :)
