Camotes Island has one of the finest beaches in the Philippines. This place is rich in nature, beauty and serenity. The Beaches here have pure white sand, and the ocean is crystal clear; free from pollution. This island is a perfect getaway from the city's hustle and bustle.
Information about Camotes island online is in scarcity. But despite of that, my cousin and I, together with our friends still travelled to Camotes in pursuit of thrill and adventure.

Going to Camotes island gives you a couple of travel options. We decided to take this route: We flew to Cebu City which is found in the western province of the Philippines. From there, we took the shuttle at SM Cebu, one of the biggest mall in Cebu city. And the parking area of this shuttle is situated at the traveller's lounge of the mall. This shuttle leaves on time. Departure is at 7am in the morning. Fare cost us only P50.00 per person. There is only one shuttle per day coming from SM. If you miss this ride, you can only get a bus ride at Cebu's North-bound Terminal which is not so neat compared to the mall's travellers lounge. If you want to skip the bus ride and want to go straight to Camotes island from Cebu, you can catch a ferry ride the at city's port.
Travelling time to the port from the city took us 2 hours. And then, from the port, we hop into a ferry. Fare ranges from P180-200 per person. Travel time is approximately 2 hours.
After almost 5 hours of exhausting travel, we finally arrived at the resort. We booked a van to pick us up from the port and do a half day tour for us. It costed us P1700 which is quite reasonable because we travelled as a group.

Arriving at Camotes port, splendour beauty welcomed us. Vast green trees clothed the island. The ocean is crystal clear with white sands. You can even see huge jelly fish floating around. What a priceless scenery to behold!
Looking for an accommodation here is quite easy. And mind you, the major resorts here are excellent, and prices are reasonable. You can check out Mangodlong Beach Resort which is one of my favourites. This resort is just grandiose. You can also check out www.agoda.com for other resorts. Most of the time, they offer good discounts.
Mode of transport here is either motor-bikes (habal-habal) or multicab. The most decent transport you can get around here are the resort shuttles. But you'll pay a higher price compared to taking the public transport.

- Baywalk
Camotes island is not overly populated and commercialised. People living here are very simple and quite friendly. Small beach resorts along Santiago coastlines offer sutukil at P100 only. Food here is not a problem.
This island perhaps is one of the places that I want to visit over and over without getting bored. Philippines is a paradise indeed!
